The contract involved the construction of a new substation and transformer base for Scottish Power. The works consisted of providing a full construction package from inception to final handover. The sub station design was altered to accommodate the local planning regulations. This involved a pitched slate roof and brickwork facade in keeping with the local area.

The schemes involved the following work elements:

  • Site set-up
  • Reduced dig excavation
  • Construction of 300mm thick reinforced concrete raft foundation and walls
  • Reinforced concrete transformer plinth and walls to watertight bund
  • Power floated slab, service trenches and cable pits
  • Fabrication and installation of galvanised support steelwork to 33kv cells
  • Cavity wall construction
  • Pre cast concrete roof slabs
  • Secondary flat roof construction
  • Timber roof trusses
  • Traditional slate roof
  • Petrol interceptor and drainage
  • Internal decoration
  • External works to be completed on return visit
