The contract involved the construction of a new substation and transformer base for Scottish Power. The works consisted of providing a full construction package from inception to final handover. The sub station design was altered to accommodate the local planning regulations. This involved a pitched slate roof and brickwork facade in keeping with the local area.
The schemes involved the following work elements:
- Site set-up
- Reduced dig excavation
- Construction of 300mm thick reinforced concrete raft foundation and walls
- Reinforced concrete transformer plinth and walls to watertight bund
- Power floated slab, service trenches and cable pits
- Fabrication and installation of galvanised support steelwork to 33kv cells
- Cavity wall construction
- Pre cast concrete roof slabs
- Secondary flat roof construction
- Timber roof trusses
- Traditional slate roof
- Petrol interceptor and drainage
- Internal decoration
- External works to be completed on return visit
