Project: Piccadilly Railway Station, Manchester


Client: Dew Construction


The contract involved the ground works and concrete works for the refurbishment and upgrading of Piccadilly station. Work was undertaken in planned stages to allow the station to remain open with minimal disruption to passengers.

The schemes involved the following  work elements:


● Below ground drainage to platforms, service yard and taxi ranks


● Deep sewage connection to main sewer


● Excavation for formation of service areas beneath existing brick  arches


● Construction of 2500 m2 power floated, reinforced concrete service area floor slab


● Construction of access road to service yard


● Excavation and formation to block paved taxi rank area


● Drainage to taxi rank and drop off area


● Demolition of brick arches to allow construction of service lifts


● Excavation of existing concourse platform down to existing brick arches


● Construction of formation and blinding for construction of reinforced concrete beams to    concourse


● Backfill between beams and prepare formation of concourse slab


● Construct access road upto the station entrance
